Fredrica Lawrence, better known to her friends, as Fredi, is a native New Yorker and a talented artist. Her interests in the arts and design led her to study architecture at Pratt Institute and fashion at Fashion Institute of Technology. She received her BA in art from Hunter College. In 1970, she moved out West, to work in costuming at the Oregon Shakespeare Theater in Ashland, Oregon. She fell in love with the incredible beauty of this small but cosmopolitan Southern Oregon town situated in the hills of the of the Rogue Valley. She decided to stay and bring a part of New York with her.
Fredi created her own environment by combining the best of the big city and the country and established Fredrica Lawrence Fine Clothing. The boutique was established in 1972 and its uniqueness has been a favorite of many. The store was initially devoted only to her designs but as it evolved more lines from New York and Los Angeles were included. The playfully sophisticate and comfortably chic clothing definitely shows her love of color, fabrics, textures and quality. This year she will once again start to design her own line.
